More about Me

Baked With Love

Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved baking. The first cake I ever made (poorly) was a carrot cake to spite my mother. She very pointedly told me that I wasn't old enough to make a cake on my own. If you know me at all, you know that this type of information was not received well. I made that damn cake and it was delicious.

From there, I was allowed to bake.

I have forever been captivated by the art of baking, quite literally, the art. I graduated from Naropa University having majored in Environmental Studies and minored in visual arts. Painting, building, carving and designing has always refilled my bucket when I'm feeling drained. It is hugely important to me to always be creating.

I put myself through college working in restaurants and have worked in every position, from dish pit to Director of Operations. In addition to art filling my bucket, so does hospitality.

I left restaurants in 2019 to pursue other paths. Ultimately I landed in sales and found myself baking cakes for staff members through the pandemic. A cake lightens the mood during a time where that was needed.

Then my co-worker Paul asked me to bake a cake for his baby who was turning one. The process of designing her cake, and taking it from paper to plate, was a process that brought all of the aforementioned pieces together.

Here we are, (currently) 15 months later designing this website.

When I am not baking, I am hanging out with my lovely wife and our dogs, running, gardening, tending to our chickens or bees, enjoying a margarita with some tacos or maybe sleeping.

I bake more than cake!

I love to bake anything! If I don't know how to bake it, I will consult our never ending stack of cook books and suss out a version of a recipe that I like. I love short doughs, quick breads, cupcakes, cookies and tarts! Pictured here are some hand pies that I made for my daughter's birthday. She wanted a science themed birthday party so I painted this board and baked some hand pies.

Coincidentally Enough...

Seven years later a bad ass Denver pastry chef (what an honor) ordered her daughter a science themed birthday cake from me! Not pictured here, the upcycled board with Lyla's birthday cake atop it!

Custom Cakes have more than just cake!

Most cake designs have some sort of element that is not buttercream, candy or fondant (I try not to use fondant by the way) and can often lead me to chocolate work! Pictured here are several different cake elements made of chocolate! All the makeup seen here is edible!
